St. Lucia’s new CM Dual Speed Tire Shredder leaving the factory and on its way to the Port of Miami for transport.
CM Tire Recycling Equipment Division in Sarasota, FL just completed the sale of a new CM Dual Speed Tire Shredder for the St. Lucia Solid Waste Management Authority in Castries. The new shredder is currently on its way to the Port of Miami, FL and is due to arrive in St. Lucia on March 23rd. Once delivered to the landfill site in Castries a CM Field Service Technician will be on site to oversee the installation, start-up and training of the machine for the crew at the landfill. The technician will cover equipment operations, maintenance procedures and safety training for all operators.
This Stage One whole tire to chip processing system will provide clean cut, 3 inch Tire Derived Aggregate (TDA) to be used as clean daily cover at the landfill sites on the island. The tire chips will provide proper drainage and provide stability for the landfill.
The new shredder will be most welcome to the island as St. Lucia has been collecting and storing old tires for the past four years and tire piles at both landfills have now become unmanageable. Last fall a tire fire broke out at the Vieux Fort location which burned for nearly two weeks and caused nearby schools to close due to the fumes and dense smoke. By alleviating the existing piles and being able to properly process all incoming scrap tires, the island will be able to eliminate unsightly tire piles from the island landscape and prevent further fires and health risk.
